The Directeur de l'état civil applies security measures to ensure that a person applying for a civil status document is authorized to obtain the document. For that purpose, applicants must enable us to establish their identity.

Upon application, your identity is verified using clicSÉQUR, Québec’s government authentification service. You must enter your clicSÉQUR identifier (user code and password) for authentification.
This service is for you if you have received a letter confirming an event (birth, marriage or civil union) recently entered in the register of civil status.
Upon application, your identity is verified using a Rapid Secure Access Number (RSAN).
The RSAN is indicated in the letter of confirmation you received and is valid for 90 days. At the end of the 90-day period, you must submit your application using the online service DEClic! – Application for a certificate or copy of an act. Your identity will be verified through your clicSÉQUR identifier.
