The law requires the officiant to verify your identity. To satisfy this legal formality, the officiant may ask you to present the following two documents:
These documents will allow the officiant to ensure that you are of the required age to get married or enter into a civil union.
You must be at least 16 years of age on the day of the solemnization.
If you or your spouse is a minor (over 16 years of age but under 18 years of age on the day of the marriage), you must obtain the Superior Court’s authorization. You must provide the officiant with that judgment before the marriage.
